Jeff and good mate Brendon Ward have been into Kombis for many years, with Jeff's daily driver a '77 Bay window delux and Brendon's a project '70 Lowlite (now complete). Jeff stumbled across this 1966 Westfalia Camper for sale in a driveway in Campbelltown in 2007. He paid seven grand for the bus, which was in surprisingly good condition. The only history that came with the '66 was that it had been imported privately by a person working on the Snowy River Hydro scheme and was converted locally to RHD. Jeff immediately saw the potential for the Westy to be restored with modern mechanicals and running gear, while maintaining the original camper look and feel, giving him and his family a period Kombi with the ability to tour in comfort. The Kombi was stripped to bare metal and selectively sandblasted to reveal the need for a complete new front floor, patches to the rear floor, sills both sides, and a tidy of the RHD conversion, including a new dash. Jeff also took the opportunity to have brackets for front and rear Safaris welded in.

VW Magazine Australia

VWMA is an Australian owned and published enthusiasts magazine serving both the aircooled and watercooled Volkswagen scene nationally. Published quarterly (Feb, May, Aug, Nov), the magazine is available through newsagents Australia wide or via subscription, and covers every aspect of the hobby, from the very early models through to the latest innovations, motorsport, offroad, kit, custom, books, toys and shows. If it doesn't appear in VWMA then it isn't VW related.

Now in its seventh year, VWMA also hosts two drag racing weekends, sponsors a variety of VW shows, and supports events across the country. Printed and distributed by Australian companies, VWMA is also fortunate to have access to a talented pool of home based VW photojournalists and print/web technicians, who work with VWMA to produce quality VW entertainment each issue. And in 2011, the magazine's website has evolved to encompass the online and portable information revolution with the inclusion of additional media content to enrich the printed reading experience.
