Barn find, shed find, garage find - sixty plus years on and old VWs are still being unearthed from forgotten corners. Hidden away for decades, their discovery is often by chance - an off-the-cuff comment, a rumour, an overheard conversation - and with a little detective work, treasures are often revealed.
Mind you, there are times when the 'hot tip-off' fizzles to a cool and abrupt end, such as when a 'split window' turns out to be only the window that remains intact on a rusted frame, or 'an old bug on a farm' actually meant just the roof visible from the edge of the duck pond. But occasionally, after many soul destroying trips to inspect cars not even fit for scrap, the odd gem does surface.
