After an absence of over 10 years from the Queensland VW show calendar, Klub VW decided it was high time to bring their annual show and swap back to life. The venue was again Picnic Point in Toowoomba, a beautiful park and tourist destination situated at the top of the Great Dividing Range. A pleasant 2 hour highway drive (in an aircooled VW) from Brisbane, the only section that requires patience for the 1200 wheezers is the climb to the top, but as the range road is a continuation of the highway, you can plod quite comfortably in the slow lane the entire ascent. No worries. The effort is well worth it, as the venue provides plenty of open space and shade, along with spectacular views and a myriad of attractions. Klub VW were given a prime location by the local council, with easy access and adequate parking space. By mid-morning no one would have guessed that this was a 'new' show, as the numbers of cars and spectactors was impressive.
