Jeff Sabel views his cars as mobile works of art. He admits he has an obsession with how the whole design is viewed, how one detail leads to another and how one body line rolls into the next. Very few cars meet Jeff's high standards of perfection, but the early pre-'68 Beetles and the 356 series of Porches definitely make the grade. This would explain why Jeff's garage has a bias toward the German brands, and why his latest 356A has all the right curves to be pride of place. Although the 356 Porsches are now considered collectable works of art, Jeff's passion did not start with the top-shelf items. His first mode of transport was a $500 1962 Beetle which he lowered himself via the old skool method of front leaf removal and notching the rear. He removed the bumpers, deleted the bumper bracket and indicator holes and sprayed the whole car in a bright turquoise. This was 1982, and as far as 80s styling went, Jeff had nailed it.
